Implementation of Removal of General Consumption Tax (GCT), Special Consumption Tax Ad Valorem (SCTA) and the 5% Common External Tariff (CET) payable on Armoured Cash Courier Vehicle

The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service advised the Jamaica Customs Agency vide Ministry Paper 11/24 dated March 26, 2024, that any company that operates an approved cash courier business can import free of General Consumption Tax (GCT), Special Consumption Tax Ad Valorem (SCTA) and pay 5% Common External Tariff (CET) on the following items:

1. Armoured vehicles on the excess of CIF US$33,000

2. The added cost of armouring vehicles

 

The effective date is April 1, 2024 through to March 31, 2026.  Additional National Code (ANC) V26 should be used to facilitate clearance.
